The former Brazilian leader has been arrested after authorities found he posed a concrete flight risk while under house arrest.

The ex-president was sentenced of plotting a government overthrow in September and handed more than a 27-year term in incarceration, but he continued under confinement pending legal challenges.

High Court Judge the presiding justice said the action to imprison the septuagenarian politician was a precautionary step after "new facts" were revealed.
